CFD and Jashne-Faiz, April 17, 2011
Citizens for Democracy (CFD) in collaboration with Faiz Centennial Committee, National Academy for Performing Arts and the City of Karachi invites you to Jashne-Faiz: A Citizens’ Event, a day-long cultural mega family event (11am–midnight) at the CDGK (formerly KMC) Sports Complex, Karachi on Sunday, April 17, 2011. Please pre-register at CFD website (one registration per person)
The event, pegged on Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s birth centenary year, aims to acknowledge the multiple voices in society and commemorate Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s democratic values. It will provide a platform to citizens, activist groups, trade unions, poets, visual artists and performing artists. The event aims to reclaim public space and counter extremist forces that are attempting to marginalise the constitutional rights of Pakistanis.
Nominal registration fee (Rs 20/- only). The aim is to attract people from all walks of life to come together and raise a voice against extremism. Those wishing to attend will be required to pre-register.
CFD will distribute up to 200,000 pamphlets each on Sunday, April 3rd, 10th and 17th across Karachi. CFD members have also met with CPLC to finalise a detailed security plan. CPLC will coordinate with Home deptt. Police, Rangers, and other security agencies.
Please spread the word far and wide. Your support, contribution and donations will be highly appreciated. All expenditures will be accounted for and the accounts will be audited.
