Visual Arts

Location: grass patch outside clubhouse

Painting Exhibit: Dhaba Group

11:00 am to 6:00 pm

Exhibition of two dimensional art works previously displayed at a railway shed.

Dhaba Group is a socially engaged group of visual and performance artists who have been working in labor colonies and katchi abadees to involve the inhabitants in creative activity

Art and performance come together in an interactive session of 20 minutes. A total of 6 performances will be held on the hour. The theme revolves around a would-be suicide bomber who is the main protagonist. Staged in the cafeteria under the secretariat.

11am – 6pm: Mural Display and Painting with Visitors

Visitors will join artists to paint a large mural.

11am – 6pm: Stalls with Art Demonstration and

Small Art Works for Sale

Art students will demonstrate art techniques and engage visitors.

11am – 6pm: Display of Images from Karachiwalla

See images from the book Karachiwalla, Rumana Hussain’s book on the diverse communities of Karachi, and get to browse through the book.

11am – 6pm: Peace Installation Around a Tree in the Park

Create origami birds of peace and add yours to the installation.  The origami birds will be made from recycled paper.

11am – 6pm: Artists Painting on Location

Artists Fahim Rao, Ali Abrar and Farooq Mustafa will work on location to familiarize diverse audiences with the process of painting on location. Engage with professional artists and demystify art.

Feica at Jashn-e-Faiz 11:30 am to 1:00 pm

Renowned cartoonist Feica will join us at Jashn-e-Faiz on Sunday morning to engage with visitors and make quick portraits/caricatures.
